Lesson #1

Introduction to oil
%art classes toronto %

Oil paints allow you to create a wide variety of textures, which, when dried, do not deform. Oil painting uses such techniques as fixed stroke, rubbing (with a finger or brush), through stroke, palette knife work, and scratching.

Therefore, in this lesson we draw a reproduction in a free modern style. We get acquainted with oil paint, as well as an artist’s inventory: brushes, thinners, varnishes, canvases, and palettes.

You will obtain all the information that will allow you to competently start painting in oils.

Lesson #2

Pastose painting
%art classes toronto %

The impasto technique of oil painting is very fresh and energetic. It differs from the classic voluminous and plastic strokes, which we create with a palette knife.

A palette knife is a flexible steel trowel with which you can create a spectacular texture on canvas.

In the lesson we will study the types of palette knives and learn how to choose them correctly. Let’s learn the basics of pastose painting.

Lesson #3

SKY. COMPOSITION BASICS AND THE RULE OF THIRDS
%art classes toronto %

To convey the beauty of space, its airiness and lightness, is a very difficult task, especially if you wish to do it in a realistic style.

Therefore, in this lesson we will study the laws of aerial perspective (teaches how to create the depth of space) and learn the rule of thirds. We will learn what underpainting is and how to properly perform it, and when it is generally necessary. We will also master the technique of glazing (gives the image integrity and depth, highlights the main thing).

Lesson #4

GILDING (ACRYLIC + OIL + POTAL)
%art classes toronto %

Gilding is a popular technique of our time, although it arose many centuries ago. It is very difficult to master, but it will not leave anyone indifferent.

Let’s learn the technique of painting: gilding

Lesson #5

WAVE. DYNAMIC COMPOSITION
%art classes toronto %

Painting waves so that they look alive, glow and demonstrate the power of the water element is a very laborious and complex process.

In the lesson we will get acquainted with the laws of composition: the law of unity, the law of balance, the law of typification and the law of novelty. We will study a compositional technique – dynamics. Let’s learn how to draw live waves in the style of realism.

In the lesson we will study acrylic technique, its features and nuances.

Lesson #6

GRUNGE STYLE. MIXED MEDIA
%art classes toronto %

Grunge is an extremely difficult style despite its unevenness and sometimes unacademic feel. The main difficulty is the combination of different techniques, materials and colors. It looks slightly worn and sometimes cracked. It is a very stylish direction in painting, as paintings in this style are perfect anywhere because they are full of color and are so unusual.

In the lesson we will learn to work with color, texture and a combination of materials.

%art classes toronto %

Abstractionism is a non-objective art of painting that affects our emotions through a mixture of colors and textures.
